The Last Thylacine
2008
Acrylic on Canvas 182 x 122cm
The Last Thylacine
The
thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus) is one of the
most fabled animals
in the world. Yet, despite its
fame, it is one of the least understood
of Tasmania's
native animals. European settlers were puzzled by
it, feared
it and killed it when they could. After
only a century of white settlement
the animal had
been pushed to extinction.
