Wild at Heart - An Exhibition by Gillie and Marc
3 December - 14 December
Richard Martin Art 98 Holdsworth Street, Woollahra NSW 2025 Sydney Australia
Gillie and Marc's iconic dogman represents the wild spirit within all humans. But like us, dogs are social animals, and it is time for the dogman to meet his companion: a female rabbit. In the wild, dogs hunt and kill rabbits, but in Gillie and Marc's world old rules are discarded and old relationships are questioned. New possibilities open up. The dog and the rabbit become soul-mates.
In these semi-autobiographical works, Gillie and Marc represent their own unique partnership. Gillie is English, grew up in Africa and
enjoyed living in every part of the world. Twenty years ago she met Marc, an Australian, in Hong Kong. Both dreamed of finding a
soulmate who shared their love of art, travel and adventure. Seven days after that first meeting, Gillie and Marc took the road to
Pokhara, Nepal, at the foot of Everest, and got married.
Since then they have developed a unique style, painting together as one on every canvas, in a true union of life and art. They have exhibited their art all over the world. Together they are international award winning artists and Archibald Prize Finalists.
Wild at Heart is a collection of paintings and bronze sculptures that celebrate love, partnership and creativity, as the dog and rabbit
continue their endless adventure into the imagination.
