Jumping on the back the three raced away, the zebra baying with joy. The zebra told them how his species has declined by 54% in just 30 years. Together they would put a stop to this, showing how the greatest friendships are so much more than black and white.

Rabbitwoman and Dogman tell the autobiographical tale of two opposites coming together as best friends and soul mates. These beloved hybrid characters work as our conduit with wildlife, helping us find joy in nature and rekindle our connection with the wild.  In the last 50 years, 70% of the world’s wildlife has been lost. The hippo had a problem. Her kind was known as some of the most bad-tempered and dangerous animals. But she was just a big softy. All she asked was to be given space and plenty of waterholes to wallow in. Unfortunately, the water holes are drying up and over 95% of hippos have disappeared in the DRC alone. She explained all of this to her friend Rabbitwoman over coffee and plenty of watermelons. It will take a group effort to solve her problem.

Description
The first thing that Gillie ever painted was her childhood rocking horse called Peppi. Gillie was born in Kingston upon Thames in London and her father had it made for her. Gillie was so attached to Peppi that she had him shipped to Australia so her own children could ride on it. Peppi now sits in her studio, so it was only too fitting that Dogman and Rabbitgirl would get the chance to ride upon Peppi too. This sculpture allows us to embrace the inner child in all of us.

When Gillie and Marc visited Rome together they become obsessed with watching the vespa riders, known locally as the Motorini. Rome has the highest number of registered scooters of any city in the world. In the Eternal City, scooters are used by people in all walks of life, from teenagers sporting the latest fashion garments to business people wearing suits. The artists joined in the fun too and loved zipping around Rome on their rented vespa. They have a soft spot for vespas because it’s an excuse to hold on tightly to one another and when they returned to Sydney they bought a vespa for themselves. The Motorini was also inspiration behind Gillie and Marc’s life-sized sculpture 'It Takes Two'. Since the artwork’s installation in Sydney’s trendy inner-city suburb, Paddington, it has been photographed countless times with visitors even dressing up Dogman and Rabbitwoman. This collection 'They were the authentic vespa riders of Rome' is modelled on 'It Takes Two'. The artists have added a colourful patina to make this sculpture really pop.
